The works on the painting project 'Round City' (also called: 'Puppets in the city') originated between 2005 and 2010. The mainly urban motifs were staged both realistic/impressionistic and abstract. In addition to a thoroughly modern and digital sounding expression of motifs there emerged also works with a clear reference to the 'classical' modernism such as the Cubism in the early 20th century. Within this picturesque period I created some different series like on the 'Dortmunder' U '', the tower-building of the former Dortmunder Union Brewery, which now houses the municipal museum of Dortmund, a series with views into the „Westen-Hellweg“ (the shopping zone of the inner city of Dortmund) and furthermore mannequins which I discovered there in my scouting. Another serial motif which was reacted in this painting period is the subject "night scenes and night lights in the big city".
